Jose A. Fourquet

Managing Director, Lehman Brothers

José A. Fourquet joined Lehman Brothers as a Managing Director and Head of the Miami Private Investment Management (PIM) branch in June, 2004. In that capacity, Mr. Fourquet is responsible for managing the firm’s high net worth and mid-market business for South Florida and Latin America. He oversees 70 employees, including 40 seasoned Investment Representatives. The Miami PIM branch consistently ranks amongst the highest revenue-producing wealth management offices for the firm. Prior to joining Lehman Brothers, President George W. Bush nominated Mr. Fourquet and the U.S. Senate unanimously confirmed him as the 12th United States Executive Director of the Inter-American Development Bank (IBD). The IBD is the multilateral institution that provides the largest amount of development aid to Latin America and the Caribbean. Mr. Fourquet also received a recess appointment from President Bush to serve as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Inter-American Foundation (IAF). The IAF is an independent agency o the U.S. government that provides grants to non-governmental and community-based organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean for innovative, sustainable and participatory self-help programs. Previously, Mr. Fourquet was a Vice-President in the Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities Division of Goldman Sachs & Co. in New York. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Mr. Fourquet worked for six years as an Operations Officer with the Central intelligence Agency. In that capacity, Mr. Fourquet was posted abroad in Latin America and the Caribbean where he collected, evaluated and reported high-priority intelligence of interest to U.S. policy makers. He is a Member of the Executive Committee of Florida International University’s Chapman Graduate school of Business, a Member of the Global Advisory Board of Endeavor Global and a Member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Hispanic Business Magazine has recognized Mr. Fourquet as one of America’s “100 Most Influential Hispanics” in 2001 and 2002. In 2003, the Switzerland-based World Economic Forum selected Mr. Fourquet as one of the 100 “Global Leaders for Tomorrow”. Mr. Fourquet graduated from Georgetown University with a BA in Government and a School of Foreign Service Special Certificate in Latin American studies. He received an MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School.
