Ivan Berkowitz

Dr. Berkowitz is a corporate executive and advisor, with over 30 years of professional experience in the financial and real estate industries. Ivan Berkowitz has acted as an international corporate advisor on matters that pertain to corporate structure and governance, transfer pricing, EEC anti-trust law, mergers and international syndication. In 2003, Dr. Berkowitz founded and serves as the Chairman of Great Court Capital, a global structured finance and traditional merchant banking firm based in New York City, active in identifying, investing and managing the investment process for a syndicate of high net worth individuals, hedge funds, and institutions. Until its sale in 2003, Ivan Berkowitz was a senior managing partner of Avatar Associates, a New York headquartered institutional asset management firm managing $1.7 billion in assets. Dr. Berkowitz has been a member of the Boards of Directors of both public and private companies, domestically and internationally. In addition to these activities, he is a Board Member of the National Council on Economic Education, as well as a member of the Board of Trustees the College of Yeshiva University. He is also a Life Member of the Cambridge Union. Ivan Berkowitz holds a Ph.D. in International Law from Cambridge University, an MBA in Finance from Baruch College and a B.A. in Economics from Brooklyn College. Dr. Berkowitz has guest lectured at professional and academic forums that include Young Presidents’ Organization, Cambridge University, Whittier College, School of Law, and New York University’s Center for Law and Business. Over the years, Dr. Berkowitz has contributed to media, business, law and academic journals including the Cambridge Law Journal and Juris Doctor.
