Matthew Brown

Matthew C. Brown is a Managing Director of the Fairfield Greenwich Group (FGG). FGG has been in the alternative asset management business for over 20 years and has grown to be an international firm with over $14 billion under management. FGG manages and distributes a diverse platform of hedge funds and fund of hedge funds and is one of the most active seed investors in the global hedge fund community. Prior to joining FGG, from 2002 – 2005, Mr. Brown was the founder and Managing Principal of Brownstone Advisors, a New York based alternative asset management firm specializing in fund of hedge funds and seeding hedge funds. In 2005, Brownstone Advisors merged its business into the Fairfield Greenwich Group. Prior to Brownstone, from 1995 – 2002, Mr. Brown was the co-founder and a Managing Principal of Brown Simpson Asset Management (BSAM). BSAM, an alternative investment fund, focused on private investing into public technology and biotechnology companies. In 2002, Mr. Brown stepped down as an active principal to build Brownstone Advisors. BSAM, renamed Xmark Asset Management in 2002, continues today as a leader in private investing in public biotechnology companies. Mr. Brown began his career in 1991 as a Financial Consultant for Shearson Lehman Brothers were he managed equity and fixed income portfolios for private clients and institutions. After that firm’s merger with Travelers Group, Mr. Brown remained with Smith Barney Shearson until starting his own firm. Mr. Brown received his Bachelor of Arts from St. Mary’s College in San Francisco, California in 1991. Mr. Brown is married with two children and resides in New York City. Affiliations Mr. Brown is a member of the Global Advisory Board of Endeavor. Additionally, Mr. Brown serves on the Endeavor Country Boards of both South Africa and Turkey. Endeavor is a global non-profit organization dedicated to mentoring and empowering high-impact entrepreneurs in developing countries. www.endeavor.org Mr. Brown is a member of the US Advisory Committee for the Global Leadership Foundation (GLF). The GLF, founded by former South African President FW de Klerk, is a non-profit organization that provides confidential advice to leaders of developing countries on solving complex political and social problems. The membership of the GLF is comprised of approximately 20 internationally respected former presidents, prime ministers and senior government officials.
