Buddy Thomas

James F. “Buddy” Thomas is the founder and President of Superior Planning, Inc. Over the past 25 years he has become known as an elite Certified Financial Planner by working with the diverse holdings of a limited number of exceptional families. Mr. Thomas measures success by the increase in each client’s total wealth year after year. His firm’s holistic approach is unique, taking into account the entire spectrum of a client’s assets including securities, businesses, and real estate, while helping them minimize income taxes and maintain their estate plans. He relocated his firm from downtown Cleveland to La Jolla in 1987 due to a boyhood intrigue with Southern California. Over the years he has developed numerous, proprietary financial planning processes others use and some attempt to copy. His mission is simple “integrating resources to create, grow, and protect wealth” Mr. Thomas is a published author and frequent national speaker on trends in the financial services industry. His books include The Coming Widow Boom – What You and Your Loved Ones Can Do To Prepare For The Unthinkable, and The Widow’s Bridge – A Surviving Spouses Guide To Emotional And Financial Well-Being. He is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace College and his list of licenses and credentials is extensive. Rather than list them now, suffice it to say he has every license required and then some to serve his client’s complete financial oversight and management needs. Buddy joined San Diego Rotary Club 33 in May of 2006 and is Chairman of the Boy Scout committee where he helped established The Rotary Eagle Ambassador Program (REAP) introducing the spirit of Rotary to newly awarded Eagle Scouts and their families. He was a Cub and Boy Scout and is currently an Assistant Cubmaster and a Boy Scout merit badge counselor.
