Edward Mullen

Chief Executive Officer, Emperor Investment Management

Ed Mullen is the Chief Executive Officer of Emperor Investment Management, a China-focused asset management company based in Shanghai. He was also the Founder and Managing Director of Dynasty Asset Management, established in 2000, which was one of the earliest investment companies to have set up operations in China. Mr. Mullen runs and oversees the firm’s China-related investment funds, and employs a team of multi-lingual professionals based in Shanghai, China. Mr. Mullen has over six years of China-based hedge fund experience working with investors from around the world, and over fifteen years experience in the hedge fund industry. Prior to moving to Shanghai, he represented and worked with numerous high net worth families, private foundations, and money management firms, including the principals of Glenwood Financial Group (now part of Man Investments), to develop financial reporting and evaluation systems, and also in incubating and marketing hedge funds inside and outside of the U.S. to global investors. Mr. Mullen is known for his expertise in investment evaluation services, performance monitoring, business operations and structuring, and systems architecture. Additionally, he has developed quantitative models for manager selection, funds allocation, portfolio and trading optimization, and a number of technical trading systems for various equity markets and commodity futures markets. Mr. Mullen is a member of YPO (Young President’s Organization), and formerly served on the Board of Directors of YEO (Young Entrepreneurs Organization), the largest network of Entrepreneurs in the world. He was also a founder and past President of the Shanghai chapter of YEO – the first of its kind in China. Mr. Mullen was born and raised in the U.S. and has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. He has spoken at numerous investment seminars across the world for institutional investors and high net-worth individuals on the integration of technology, finance, and emerging markets investing. He has also appeared on and is frequently quoted in international media outlets and industry publications, including Barrons, Institutional Investor, CNBC, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Fortune, AsiaHedge, Hedge World, etc. discussing investment opportunities in China. Mr. Mullen received an A.B. in Economics, cum laude from Harvard University. He also studied at the University of Michigan and Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Japan.
