Douglas A. Kass

President, Seabreeze Partners Management, Inc.

From 2001 to the present, Doug Kass has served as President of Seabreeze Partners Management, Inc. and as the investment manager of Seabreeze Partners L.P. Since 2005, Mr. Kass has served as the investment manager of  Seabreeze Partners Short L.P. and since 2006 as the investment manager of  Seabreeze Partners Short Offshore Fund, Ltd.  From 2003 to 2004, Mr. Kass served as a portfolio manager and principal of Demours Capital Management, LLC, which was the general partner and investment manager for Circle T Market – Neutral Fund, L.P., a U.S.-based hedge fund, and Circle T Market –Neutral Offshore Fund, Ltd., a non-U.S. hedge fund.  At Demours Capital Management, LLC, Mr. Kass was primarily in charge of short-biased investments.  Mr. Kass was the general partner of Kass Partners, LLC, the predecessor firm to Kass Partners, Ltd., a private investment entity, which he founded in 1997.  From 1995 to 1996, Mr. Kass was a senior portfolio manager at Omega Advisors, a New York-based investment partnership with over $3 billion in assets.   From 1993 to 1995, Mr. Kass was an executive senior vice president and director of Institutional Equities at JW Charles/CSG, a Florida-based, New York Stock Exchange member firm.  In 1994, JW Charles/CSG was named by Financial World as having the best investment recommendation performance of any institutional research department.  From 1991 to 1992, Mr. Kass was a senior vice president, director of research, and manager of institutional equities at First Albany Corporation.  From 1985 until 1991, Mr. Kass was the president of DAK Securities Corporation, an investment management firm.  Prior to 1986, Mr. Kass was the general partner of Jacobson Kass Partners, an investment partnership; a general partner of Glickenhaus & Company; and a vice president and analyst of Putnam Management Companies.  Mr. Kass started his career as a housing analyst at Kidder Peabody and Co., Incorporated.Mr. Kass received his Bachelor’s degree from Alfred University.  He earned an MBA in finance from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School in 1972.  While at Wharton, Mr. Kass co-authored Citibank with Ralph Nader and the Center for the Study of Responsive Law.Mr. Kass has lectured on short selling at the Yale University School of Management and at the Harvard Business School. Mr. Kass writes The Edge, a daily column for TheStreet.com and Real Money Silver.  He is a frequent guest on CNBC’s Kudlow & Company and has served as a guest host for CNBC’s Squawk Box in the U.S. and in Europe.  He is also often a guest on Bloomberg television and on the Fox Business Network.  In addition, Mr. Kass has authored several articles and editorials for Barrons and for the Financial Times.  Mr. Kass has been interviewed in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and other publications.
