Judah Kraushaar

Managing Partner, Roaring Brook Capital, LP

Judah S. Kraushaar is the Managing Partner of Roaring Brook Capital, a long/short equity hedge fund focused on US Mid-cap companies.  The fund was launched in January of 2007. Mr. Kraushaar began his professional career in 1980 when he joined Chase Econometrics as a management consultant focused on the financial services industry.  In 1983, Mr. Kraushaar joined the Strategic Planning Department of Merrill Lynch’s Capital Markets division as an analyst. He soon moved into Merrill Lynch’s equity research department, and, from 1984 to 1986, he was an industry specialist responsible for banks in the southern portion of the United States.In 1986, Mr. Kraushaar moved to Morgan Stanley as a Vice-President where he organized and managed that firm’s national coverage of regional banks. Three years later, he was recruited back to Merrill Lynch as a First Vice President responsible for covering money center banks and for the overall U.S. bank research team. In the early 1990’s, Mr. Kraushaar added responsibility for the research coverage of U.S. securities brokers and dealers and investment managers. In 1997, he assumed responsibility for global financial services research and led a team of approximately 25 analysts located around the world.For 12 years, from 1991 to 2002, he was a top-ranked analyst in Institutional Investor Magazine’s All-America Research Team Survey, the most prestigious poll of institutional investors in the industry. Additionally, during that same period, he was consistently recognized as one of the leading analysts by Greenwich Research Associates’ annual survey of Institutional Investors, and the annual survey of leading analysts conducted by the Wall Street Journal.He has been cited for his professional accomplishments by Fortune and Bloomberg Magazines. Mr. Kraushaar has been a repeat guest on Louis Rukeyser’s Wall Street Week television program and has frequently appeared on other business television programs as well as having been quoted extensively in the print media.In 2003, Mr. Kraushaar took a sabbatical to write a book with Sandy Weill, which tells Mr. Weill’s life story in the world of business and financial services. “The Real Deal: My Life in Business And Philanthropy” was published in October 2006.Mr. Kraushaar serves on the Executive Committee of The American Jewish Committee, a leading human relations organization dedicated to promoting democracy, mutual understanding and tolerance between people of different faiths and ethnicities.Mr. Kraushaar received his BA in 1979 and MBA in 1980 both from Cornell University. He has served on the University Council and is active in supporting Cornell’s Johnson School of Business where he lectures from time to time on trends in the financial services industry and asset management. He is also past president of the Bank & Financial Analysts Association, a professional group composed of investment analysts and portfolio managers covering the financial services sector.Mr. Kraushaar lives in Chappaqua, NY, with his wife and three children.
