Janet Engels

A 28-year veteran of the securities industry, Janet Engels’ career began in the Equity Research department of Tucker Anthony Inc. in 1982. In 1985, she helped establish Tucker Anthony’s Equity Strategies group, whose goal was to identify attractive investment ideas from the firm’s national equity research sources. She was named director of Equity Research in 1991 for San Francisco-based Sutro & Co., the sister firm of Tucker Anthony. In 1994, she rejoined Tucker Anthony in New York as a senior vice president and director of the Equity Strategies group. In 2002, Ms. Engels became director of the Private Client Research Group of RBC Wealth Management following its acquisition of Tucker Anthony. She is a member of the firm’s Director’s Group as well as its Investment Strategy Committee for Global Investment Management. She is a member of the Financial Women’s Association of New York and a frequent lecturer at client seminars throughout the country. She has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fortune, and Business Week Online, and is a regular guest on Bloomberg radio. In addition, she authors a quarterly strategy publication and a monthly market update, as well as theme white papers on topics such as demographics, globalization and market cycles.In 2008 Ms.Engels was the recipient of RBC Wealth Management’s “Irv Weiser Diversity Award” which recognizes the individual who exhibits the company’s commitment to diversity. She was honored for her commitment to events and speaking engagements that support and educate women and for raising awareness about persons with disabilities. She holds the Series 7, 16, 24, 63, 86, and 87 registrations with the NASD. She received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania.
