Bob Hudson is the Managing Partner and Senior Tax Partner of the Miami office with a 39-plus year career in international tax law.  He has long been recognized as a leading tax authority and practitioner, with specialties in both tax planning and tax controversy work in the international and domestic arenas. Bob has covered both outbound and inbound U.S. tax planning for international clients, with a subspecialty of addressing FIRPTA and treaty-related issues for foreign clients investing in the United States.  In recent years, Bob has done an increasing amount of so-called private banking, international tax and trust planning for very high net worth clients and financial institutions.  He continues to represent a number of significant Fortune 500 companies in international, outbound tax planning and global tax minimization projects, as well as representing clients in major tax controversy cases.  He has testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee on U.S. taxation of foreign investment in the United States.  Bob has also led the Florida Bar committee which wrote the pivotal draft legislation on the FIRPTA Withholding Tax which was enacted by Congress as Code Section 1445 in 1984. Additionally, Bob’s BNA portfolio on “Federal Tax Considerations of Foreign Investment in the U.S. Real Estate” is regarded as one of the leading authorities on that subject.  Bob has written extensively, particularly on international tax subjects, publishing over 80 articles to date.  He also lectures regularly before a wide variety of professional organizations throughout the world.
