Mark Frederick Mehler M.D. is an Alpern Professor and University Chairman, The Saul R. Korey Department of Neurology Professor of Neuroscience and Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Director, Institute for Brain Disorders and Neural Regeneration Neurologist-in-Chief, Einstein-Affiliated Hospital Networks Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Mehler received his clinical training as a Clinical Fellow in Medicine at Harvard Medical School and as a Resident in Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston during the period of 1980 to mid-1983. Dr. Mehler was a resident in Neurology (July 1981 to June 1983) and Chief Resident in Nuerology (from July 1983 to June 1984) at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Affiliated Hospital. Dr. Mehler has extensive research training from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Mehler received a B.A. from Columbia College, Columbia University in 1974 and his M.D. from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1980. Dr. Mehler has been elected to Alpha Omega Alpha and is an M.D. with Special Distinction for Research in Neurochemistry. His thesis was titled “The Role of Alternations in the Post-Translational Processing of Glycoproteins for the Pathogenesis of Lysosomal Storage Disease.
