Bob Buford

Bob Buford is an author and entrepreneur. His numerous initiatives reflect his interests and desires as someone wanting to make a difference through the application of his faith and resources under the general mission of transforming the latent energy of the American church into active energy. Mr. Buford launched Leadership Network, a private operating foundation created in 1984 for the original purpose of identifying, networking and resourcing senior ministers and staff of large congregations (1,000+ in attendance) in the United States. He is also the Founding Chairman of the Board of Governors of The Peter F. Drucker Foundation for Nonprofit Management. In January 1998, Mr. Buford launched what became Halftime, the organization, to help high-powered marketplace leaders to convert their faith into action and effective results. In 1999, Mr. Buford concluded a 35 year career in the communications business by selling Buford Television, Inc., the company of which he was Chairman of the Board, in order to his devote his efforts fully to what he describes as philanthropic venture capital. Mr. Buford is author of four books, the best seller, Halftime: Changing Your Game Plan from Success to Significance; Game Plan: Winning Strategies for the Second Half of Your Life and Stuck in Halftime: Reinvesting Your One and Only Life. Finishing Well was released in July 2004. Buford recently launched a personal website, ACTIVEenergy.net, where he continues the interviews he did in Finishing Well in a free weekly email newsletter. Mr. Buford is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and the Owner Managed Program at Harvard Business School. He has played active roles in Young Presidents’Organization and the World Presidents’Organation. Mr. Buford was the 2000 recipient of the Samaritan Institute Award and the 2005 Christian Management Association Award.
