Richard Belkin

America's Hall of Fame

Richard B. Belkin’s media career spanned 40 years. Mr. Belkin began his work experience with the General Electric Company. He served as Vice President and General Manager of KOA stations in Denver, Colorado; Vice President of WRGB-TV and WGY/WGFM in Schnectady, NY and Vice President and General Manager if the Command Performance television network. Mr. Belkin created the concept of electronic race tracks for off-track betting adopted by the state of Connecticut while operating the network. After leaving General Electric, Mr. Belkin assumed the position of the Vice President and General Manager for Outlet Broadcasting in Syracuse, New York. Mr. Belkin joined McClatchy Newspapers, Inc. as executive Vice President and a member of the Board of Directors, responsible for radio and television properties in California and Nevada, and Cable television systems in Northern California. As Vice president of Broadcasting and Corporate Startegic Planning for Lee Enterprises, Inc. Mr. Belkin was responsible for television stations in Huntington, West Virginia; Omaha, Nebraska; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Tucson, Arizona; Portland, Oregon; and Honolulu, hawaii. In addition, two television production companies were also part of his responsibility. Mr. Belkin is a graduate of University of Hartford and Syracuse University where he received his bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees. He was selected to attend the General Electric and Harvard Management School with emphasis on marketing and strategic planning.
