Darren Latoski has over 19 years of real estate experience in all sectors including retail, industrial and multi-family in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and Washington State. He holds a Masters in Business Administration from Simon Fraser University.
Over the past 20 years, Darren has been involved in the acquisition, and/or development of over CDN$800 million in Canadian real estate properties and over $350 million in U.S. real estate properties.
Currently President and co-founder of Sunstone Realty Advisors which has raised over $350 million in equity to acquire 60 properties totaling over $800 million. Darren co-established a series of Sunstone Opportunity Funds annually from 2003 to 2010 which have raised an aggregate of CDN$208,666,250 in equity financing for Canadian real estate and $112,076,250 in equity financing for U.S. real estate. Included among the properties acquired and/or developed are 58 properties acquired in Canada since 2004 by various Sunstone Opportunity Funds having an aggregate acquisition cost of over CDN$489 million and eight properties acquired by various Sunstone U.S. Opportunity Funds having an aggregate acquisition cost of over $180 million.
Darren co-founded PIRET, Canada’s only pure industrial real estate trust and has been instrumental in leading its growth from start-up to a dominant player in the Canadian industrial marketplace.
Since its inception, PIRET has been one of Canada’s best performing REITs, providing investors with a total return of 49.8% since its IPO as opposed to a 15.9% total return by the TSX over the same period.
Since 2007, PIRET has raised over $200 million in equity financing and acquired a portfolio of 62 industrial properties in Canada having an acquisition price of over CDN $383 million.
Previously, Darren worked as Vice-President of Macluan Capital Corporation, a Vancouver based private equity firm.
