Roland Lescure

Executive Vice President/Chief Investment Officer, Caisse de depot et Placement du Quebec

Roland Lescure is the Caisse’s Executive Vice-President and Chief Investment Officer. In this capacity, he oversees investment strategy, asset allocation for the overall portfolio, as well as shaping the research underpinning investment operations.Mr. Lescure also supervises the investment teams and operations in liquid markets, namely equities, fixed-income securities and overlay strategies. He plays a key advisory role for private equity and real estate investments and sits on the Caisse’s Executive Committee.Mr. Lescure has many years of experience in the investment field and enjoys an excellent track record within the industry.Before joining the Caisse, he held the position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer at Groupama Asset Management, one of the largest asset management firms in France, from 2006 until 2009. In 2005 and in 2006, he was Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Natexis Asset Square and Deputy Chief Investment Officer at Natexis Asset Management (now Natixis Asset Management).He began his career in portfolio management at the asset management subsidiary of France’s Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, which was later named IXIS Asset Management. From 1999 to 2005, Mr. Lescure was assigned various mandates, the last of which was Head of Research and Asset Allocation.Mr. Lescure has also worked with the French department of finance and the Institut national de la statistique et des études économiques (INSEE), where he was in charge of economic forecasting.He is a graduate of École Polytechnique and the École Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Administration Économique (ENSAE) in Paris, France. He obtained an M.Sc. in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science in the U.K.Mr. Lescure has taught at the École nationale d’administration (ENA), ENSAE and the École des Mines de Paris. He has also contributed to several initiatives undertaken by the Council of Economic Advisers, a body reporting to the French prime minister.
