Paul Motz is president of the Motz Family Foundation and Flagstone Capital Inc., the investment company for himself and his children and consults to a variety of organizations and individuals in Southern Ontario.
Until 1989, Mr. Motz was President and General Manager of JEMCOM Inc., a group of companies
involved in commercial and fine printing, the publishing of the 105,000 circulation daily newspaper Kitchener-Waterloo Record, four weekly newspapers, four magazines and a shopper. He also founded the advertising agency, Weaver, Tanner & Miller.
His past directorships include: American Press Institute, Reston, VA; Canadian Daily Newspaper Association; Weaver, Tanner and Miller Inc.; Multiples Display Fixture Company, St. Louis, MO; Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra; Kitchener-Waterloo Counselling Services; The Inland Press Association, Chicago, IL; St. Mary’s General Hospital and its Foundation; Stratford Shakespearean Festival Foundation of Canada and the Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation; director, Durham Furniture Inc. in Durham, ON; Performance Polymers Inc. in Cambridge ON and Icy Waters Ltd. in Whitehorse, Yukon.
His community service activities and affiliations are many and diverse with particular emphasis on
Mr. Motz has successfully led a number of companies and organizations through examinations
and implementations of contemporary governance practices.
Mr. Motz graduated in 1972 from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics.
He also attended Queens University in Kingston in 1985, and University of Cambridge, England in 1990.
He is married to Catherine (nee Meechan) formerly of Toronto. He has two children; Mary, who is married to Keith McSpurren and Jane, who is married to Jonathan Hayes. He is proud to have four grandchildren; Ethan, Keely, Charlotte and Juliette.
His other interests include; golf, bicycling, gardening and community volunteering. Relaxation activities are; photography, reading, music, handyman activities and playing with his grandchildren
