Brent Houlden

Brent Houlden is the Canadian practice leader for Deloitte’s Retail sector and is also the firm’s National Performance Enhancement Advisory leader. He established the Solutions mid-market consulting practice for Ontario and is a former co-leader of the Canadian Strategy & Operations group for Deloitte Consulting.Brent has provided consulting services to a wide-range of leading retailers and franchisors in Canada and the United States. His primary consulting area is shareholder value and improved decision-making through better access to information.He is the author of a point-of-view document on how mobile applications and devices, digitization and social media (web 2.0) are re-shaping the retail industry, and for 6 years chaired Deloitte’s Global editorial board for the Consumer Business sector. He currently leads a global taskforce that assists retailers expand beyond the borders of their home countries.A member of Deloitte Canada’s Board of Directors and the Treasurer of the Empire Club of Canada, Brent is also Chairman of the Board of Directors for the University of Toronto (U of T) Press and U of T Bookstores and serves on a variety of other advisory boards.
