Sengal Selassie is the Managing Partner of Brightwood LP, a firm which provides flexible capital to U.S.-based small to medium-sized enterprises. Mr. Selassie co-founded Brightwood in 2010 with his partner Damien Dwin, and the firm raised its first fund in 2011.Before joining Brightwood, Mr. Selassie was co-founder and Managing Partner of Cowen Capital Partners. He led the fund’s spinout from Societe Generale to form Trinity Equity Holdings; which returned more than two times invested capital to LPs. Prior to this, he was Managing Director and group head at predecessor SG Capital Partners. Prior to that, Mr. Selassie worked in Morgan Stanley’s M&A group helping media and telecommunications companies execute strategic transactions. He began his career at Goldman Sachs in corporate finance.Mr. Selassie is on present and past portfolio company boards of directors, including VanDeMark, Action Carting, Poco Graphite, Viawest Internet Services, Ricerca Biosciences, and MC2. He is a member of the NY and CT Bar Associations
