TIGER 21 Promotes Three as Organization Surpasses 300 Members

New York (January 20, 2015)TIGER 21, North America’s leading peer-to-peer learning group for high-net-worth investors, has announced the promotion of three individuals in its New York headquarters.

Wendy Gartenberg has been named Chief Financial Officer, Alison R. Smith has been promoted to Vice President of Marketing and Membership, and Kristyn Carrea is now Manager of Membership. Individual details about Gartenberg, Smith and Comei are included below.

TIGER 21 was founded in New York in 1999 to focus on improving its Members’ investment acumen and market knowledge while exploring the challenging issues of wealth preservation, estate planning and family dynamics beyond finance. TIGER 21 now has more than 300 Members, who personally invest over $30 billion in total assets. There are groups in 18 cities across North America.

Wendy Gartenberg joined TIGER 21 in 2012 as Controller and currently serves as Chief Financial Officer.  She manages all aspects of financial controls, budgets, cash flows, projections and analytics. Her responsibilities include cost containment, financial modeling, P&L analysis, cash flow and forecasting, financial reporting, budgeting and collaborating on financial strategy and implementation. Over the past three years, Ms. Gartenberg has overseen the largest revenue growth in TIGER 21’s history.

Ms. Gartenberg has over 20 years of extensive finance and accounting experience in various industry sectors and has a proven track record in the design and implementation of strategies to strengthen financial controls, contain costs and deliver accurate reporting and promote sound financial decision making. Before joining TIGER 21, Ms. Gartenberg worked as Controller for seven years at Marie Chantal LLC, a United Kingdom-based wholesale, retail and e-commerce company.

Ms. Gartenberg began her financial career at the Four Seasons Hotel chain with her first assignment at their New York property, The Pierre Hotel.  She earned a B.S. degree from George Washington University.

Alison R. Smith is currently Vice President of Marketing and Membership. She joined TIGER 21 in 2007 and her role in the organization has been growing ever since.  Her team oversees more than 350 member events annually and she also develops and manages marketing and public relations initiatives.  In her membership capacity, she has played a key role in developing and increasing TIGER 21 membership, which in 2014 increased by over 35%, with a particular focus on recruitment in the metropolitan New York City area. 

Before joining TIGER 21, Ms. Smith worked at Marina Maher Communications, a marketing and public relations company where she focused on media relations and contributed to the development of marketing and branding plans for clients.  Prior to that, she worked at the United Nations Association (UNA) where she coordinated and oversaw events across the nation, represented UNA at public speaking events, researched and wrote articles for UNtold, and managed relationships with education partners.

Ms. Smith is a graduate of Fordham University Graduate School of Business with an MBA in Finance and Marketing.  She earned her BA at Ithaca College.  Ms. Smith currently serves on the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society Advisory Board. 

Kristyn Carrea, who joined TIGER 21 in 2013 as a Membership Assistant, has been promoted to Manager of Membership.  In this role, she serves as the point person for the more than 300 TIGER 21 Members across North America, and manages 28 Group meetings around the country each month.

Prior to joining TIGER 21, Kristyn worked at Unum Group as a Senior Disability Benefits Specialist, handling Individual Disability claims.  Kristyn is a 2009 graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, where she majored in Psychology and minored in Economics.
