Job Title: Payroll Coordinator

Job Classification: Part-Time

Reports To: Senior Manager, HR and Administration

Location: Remote – US based.

Salary Range: $40 – $43/hour ($50,000 – $54,000 Annualized)

Schedule: 3 days/24 hours per week

Anticipated Start Date: April 1 or April 16

POSITION SUMMARY:

TIGER 21 seeks a versatile Payroll Coordinator to support the HR/Administration team. This role will work closely with both HR and Finance while collaborating across all departments at TIGER 21. The Payroll Coordinator will manage payroll processing from start to finish, support HRIS maintenance, assist with benefits administration, and provide day-to-day administrative support on a variety of tasks.

This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with a couple of years of payroll experience who is looking for a dynamic role that includes exposure to diverse HR and Finance functions and seeks to deepen their knowledge in day-to-day HR administration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Other duties may be assigned

  • Payroll Administration:
    • Run Semi-Monthly and off-cycle payrolls for all employees in various states
    • Process payroll for global (non-US) employees through Deel
    • Administer time and attendance for hourly employees
    • Validate I-9s and ensure compliance with US immigration laws
    • Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including new hire, termination, and leave administration
    • Maintain integrity of HRIS data, processing changes as needed
    • Provide employment verification letters
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure ACA compliance, including filing 1094s and 1095s
    • Collaborate with Finance for payroll compliance, including accurate general ledger reporting, tax compliance and state reporting
    • Process garnishments and respond to unemployment notices
    • Manage 401k contributions and deposits
    • Remit earnings for worker’s comp reporting

  • Comfort with a blend of cyclical work and ad hoc projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A strong sense of urgency in meeting payroll deadlines

DESIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in HR, Business, Finance, or a related field
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing
  • 2+ years of payroll experience

TECHNOLOGY:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel
  • Experience with payroll/HRIS software, with familiarity in TriNet and Ascensus a plus

Occasional travel may be requested. TIGER 21 hosts an annual full company retreat and an annual departmental retreat. This position will be encouraged, but not required, to attend.
