Shawn Barberis

“Promise me you will sit behind a desk, not stand behind a presser like your father and I.”When Shawn was in eighth grade, his immigrant grandfather from Sparta, Greece spoke these words to him. His grandfather understood the value of family legacy.Shawn’s grandfather owned and operated several dry cleaners that stayed in the family for over 70 years.. He provided a good life for his family, but wanted more for his grandchildren.Shawn’s promise to his grandfather drove him to attain his law degree from the University of Baltimore, where he met his wife.  While working through law school, Shawn joined a law firm downtown. It was during this time, as he drafted business and estate documents, that he noted a lack of knowledge and process for mitigating wealth-transfer failure.In 2002, Shawn, with two partners, founded Premier Planning Group, an independent financial services company. Starting with just the three founding partners and growing it to 78 in 2007 with offices from Florida to Maryland.Convinced there was a better way to serve families, Shawn founded Aspida360 in 2007.  He hired a team of researchers and developed a wealth-transfer mitigation technology to implement with families, More Than Money (MTM) 360.  Recognizing families are busy and geographically dispersed, MTM360 provides a robust system in time-efficient, convenient 30 minute consultations culminating a well-structured family meeting while connecting family members irrespective of geographic location.Shawn lives in the Homeland neighborhood in Baltimore, MD with his bride of 19 years Maria, 11 year old son Jonathan and a darn cute Shi Tzu named Rocky.
