Dr. Marcela Riojas

Dr. Marcela Riojas is board-certified in Family Medicine, a Fellow of the American Board of Obesity Medicine, and a certified Intellxxdna Genomic Consultant. She received her medical degree from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara followed by Fifth Pathway Certification at New York Medical College. She went on to complete her Family Medicine Residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center of San Antonio where she was Second Place Winner at the Resident Research AAFP National Conference Poster Competition and co-author of Diagnosis and Management of Contact Dermatitis of the American Family Physician Journal.  Dr. Riojas practiced as a Clinical Assistant Professor in both Edinburg and San Antonio medical schools for 5 years.  As she became certified as an Obesity Medicine Specialist, she developed a great interested in personalized medicine thus transitioning to the private sector in medicine and worked at Vital Life Wellness Center for 2 years where she became a functional medicine trained physician. In 2018 she pursued her desire to acquire preventive medicine skills by studying genomics with Dr. Sharon Hausmann-Cohen and integrating her knowledge to personalized medical care. She created Brixen Optimal Health, PLLC personalized online consultation service that offers integrated genomics and family medicine aiming prevent or improve disease in order to maintain optimal health. Dr. Riojas is fluent in both English and Spanish and licensed the states of Texas and Florida. She is married and has a 3.5 year old son, enjoys traveling, cooking, exercising, and teaching others what she has learned along the way.
