Jay Moorhead

Co-Founder, Westwood Capital

Jay Moorhead has spent 20 years on Wall Street working with entrepreneurs and emerging growth companies. Prior to joining Westwood Capital, LLC Mr. Moorhead co-founded MillRock Partners, a boutique investment bank serving private middle market and public growth companies. From 2001-2003, Mr. Moorhead was a corporate finance partner at CE Unterberg Towbin and was involved in numerous corporate finance transactions in the business information services, consumer services/retail and semi-conductor sectors. For ten years before joining CE Unterberg Towbin (1991- 2001), Mr. Moorhead was a founding partner of the New York investment banking firm VM Equity Partners, advising small public companies and private firms too small to find ‘bulge bracket’ sponsorship. Prior to co-founding VM Equity Partners, Mr. Moorhead was an investment banker at Lehman Brothers, focusing on corporate finance business development following that firm’s merger with E.F. Hutton & Co. In his pre-merger career at Hutton, Mr. Moorhead worked on Hutton’s business development in corporate and public finance; served as Assistant to the firm’s Chairman and CEO; and attended the Program for Management Development at Harvard Business School (1987). Mr. Moorhead’s early career was spent in politics and government. From 1977-80, Mr. Moorhead was a campaign manager, first for the Republican Party and later for George H.W. Bush’s Presidential campaign. From 1981-83, he served in the Reagan White House as Special Assistant to the President in the Office of Private Sector Initiatives. After the White House, Mr. Moorhead worked for the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee as White House and Government Liaison. Mr. Moorhead graduated from the University of Vermont in 1975.
