Helen Messier

HELEN MESSIER, PhD, MD has a passion for integrating genomic, metabolomic, microbiomic, and environmental data into patient care.  She is a leader in providing precision medicine that deals with primary prevention and uncovering the root causes that lead to illness.  She strives to understand each individual’s unique biochemistry and genetics in order to personalize healthcare to a molecular level.  Dr. Messier received a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Genetics from the University of Alberta. While there she was awarded an Alberta Heritage Fund Scholarship to conduct genetic research.  Dr. Messier went on to earn a Ph.D. in Molecular Immunology from the University of Alberta with a focus on the genetic regulation of T-cell receptor genes.  She completed post-doctoral studies at the La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology in San Diego, California. She then won the Nat Christie Entrance Scholarship at the University of Calgary Medical School, completing her residency in Family Medicine in Calgary.  Dr. Messier was the founder and chief medical officer of a national concierge medical company in Canada, she was the medical director of a genomics testing company, founded a metabolomics interpretation company, and is the medical director of Healix Health, a company she founded that is aimed at bringing comprehensive testing into a concierge medical setting.  Dr. Messier also lectures internationally teaching health care providers how to incorporate “omics” into patient care.  She is on the faculty of the Institute for Functional Medicine and is on the Advisory Board of Genome magazine. Dr. Messier is currently the Medical Director, Genomics at Human Longevity Inc in San Diego, California.
