Wallace Zeins joined the Police Department in 1973 in the 94 PCT., Brooklyn, where he did his uniform patrol duty and worked in the youth gang task force. In 1974-76, Mr. Zeins worked as an undercover narcotics investigator. In 1977-79, he was assigned to Internal Affairs working in an undercover capacity, and it was during this time that he made Detective rank, receiving his Gold Shield. From 1979-85, Mr. Zeins was assigned to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Detective Squad where he investigated political corruption and organized crime (specifically, the Gambino Crime Family). In 1982, Mr. Zeins joined the NYCPD Hostage Negotiation team and was promoted to Detective Sergeant. During the World Trade Center terrorist attack, he was designated acting Commanding Officer of the NYCPD Hostage Team. In March 2003, he was featured on national TV, CBS, 48 Hours Reports, “The Negotiator”, a documentary about the NYCPD Hostage Team. From 1986 to 1994, Wally was assigned to the NYCPD Department of Investigation Squad where he supervised the covert investigations of internal corruption in 13 mayoral agencies. In 1987, Wally graduated from the FBI / National Academy, Quantico, VA. Upon graduation, Wally lectured and cross-train FBI undercover agents concerning undercover techniques. From 1994-95, Wally was assigned to the NYPD Organized Crime Bureau, where he supervised the NYCPD / FBI Task Force. In addition, he also supervised the Trademark Infringement Squad. From 1996-2003, Wally is assigned as the Commanding Officer in charge of Detective Borough Manhattan Night Watch, an exclusive Detective Squad which investigates all homicides and high profile investigations throughout Manhattan between the hours of midnight and 8:00 a.m. In 2003, Wally received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor for his work in Law Enforcement. Wally has appeared on national and local TV (CNN, Fox, CBS, ABC and Court TV) as thier Hostage Negotiation Consultant when ever a major hostage incident takes place in the world. In addition, Mr. Zeins has also appeared as a regular Crime Consultant to the Court TVE show “Caught”, a hidden camera show on crime.
