Rachel Emma Silverman has been a reporter at the Wall Street Journal since 1998. For the last three years she has covered wealth management for the “Personal Journal” section, reporting on tax, estate and insurance planning; philanthropy; financial aspects of marriage and divorce; and art and collectibles. Before that, she covered a variety of beats including corporate management and consulting, careers, and General Electric. She has written stories on a wide range of topics, including “safe” tax shelters, controversies among magicians and Jack Welch’s divorce hearings. She graduated summa cum laude from Harvard University and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She now lives in Austin, TX.
