Howard Sontag

Howard Sontag is the founder and Managing Partner of Sontag Advisory LLC, which was started in April 1995.Prior to starting Sontag Advisory, Mr. Sontag spent 13 years at Lazard Fréres & Co., overseeing initially both the tax department and benefits group, where he worked with individual partners in fashioning total programs to meet their individual goals in tax and estate planning and benefits programs.  Subsequently, Mr. Sontag moved to the private client group within Lazard’s asset management group where he was in charge of business development. He began his career in the tax department of a major accounting firm and then held corporate tax positions at two Fortune 500 companies dealing with a wide array of tax issues, benefits programs and executive compensation.  He then moved to a national benefits consulting firm where he led the 401(K) team and advised large corporations (which included Lazard) on benefits related issues.  Mr. Sontag is a graduate of St. John’s University and the St. John’s University Law School and received a Masters of Law in Taxation from the New York University Law School. Howard Sontag was ranked #6 nationally in Barrons Top 100 Independent Advisors for 2010.  His firm has responsibility for more than $6Billion in investment assets and has received national recognition related to both size and excellence.
