Brendan Caldwell

Brendan Caldwell is President of both Caldwell Securities Ltd. and Caldwell Investment Management Ltd. These companies are among Canada’s top investment advisory and investment management firms for private clients, municipalities, charities, foundations, as well as private and public corporations. Mr. Caldwell’s hands-on leadership style has created positive change and growth in every aspect of Caldwell’s strategy, structure and products. He is also the founding President of Caldwell Insurance Services Ltd. In September 2004, Mr. Caldwell took over management of the Caldwell Canada Fund, which, according to Globefund, is now the top-performing Canadian equity fund in the country in 2006. He is also manager for the Caldwell Balanced Fund, the top-performing balanced fund in Canada in 2006. Both of these new funds have achieved five-star ratings under his stewardship. This past summer, Mr. Caldwell launched the Caldwell Exchange Fund, which has been the top-performing global equity fund since its inception. Born in 1970, Brendan graduated early from Upper Canada College in 1987 with the Colonel Ibbitson Leonard Scholarship for academic achievement. He earned his B.Sc. from Trinity College at the University of Toronto in 1991 and his M.A. in English Literature from the University of London, England, in 1992. Mr. Caldwell has held the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst since 1995. Prior to joining Caldwell in 1995, Mr. Caldwell worked for Mackenzie Financial and RBC Dominion Securities, Inc. During his three years with RBC, he was the youngest Investment Advisor at the firm to achieve consecutive status in the President’s Club as a top-producer among his peers. Mr. Caldwell is well-known for being an active investor in securities exchanges. His exchange memberships have included Toronto (TSX), New York (NYSE), Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) and American Stock Exchange (AMEX). He continues to be a leader in this burgeoning sector. Mr. Caldwell is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute, a member of the Toronto Society of Financial Analysts and the CFA Institute. Often interviewed for his insights into current economic issues, Mr. Caldwell is a regular financial commentator on Cable Pulse 24,City TV’s 24 Hour news station, and is an industry consultant to countless other media outlets. In spite of his busy professional and home schedules, Mr. Caldwell is very active in the community and generous with his time as a volunteer. He is a Director of Corporate Counselling and Chaplaincy, Warden of the Church of The Messiah, a member of the Board of Trustees of Wycliffe College and of the Corporation of Trinity College. Brendan’s memberships also include the Toronto Club, Royal Canadian Yacht Club, Council of 1829 and Chair of Founder’s Day for Upper Canada College, Neshama Playground Steering Committee, and life member of the University of Guelph Arboretum. His financial contributions to charity are too numerous to mention, but are primarily directed towards Christian charities and organizations helping central Toronto, the business community, children, and his alma maters. He is passionate about ongoing personal development and has taken courses with the Ryerson Fencing Club, University of Guelph’s Arboretum, and the Department of History at the University of Toronto.
