Laurence Leeds

Chairman, Buckingham Capital Management, Inc.

Laurence Leeds Jr.. is the Chairman of Buckingham Capital Management, a New York equity management firm. One of his major responsibilities is managing Buckingham’s RAF fund, which has been one of the nation’s more successful hedge funds over the past decade. Buckingham RAF invests in Retail, Apparel and Footwear stocks. Mr. Leeds is also a Managing Director of The Buckingham Research Group – Buckingham Capital’s parent firm. He was previously Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Manhattan Industries, a New York Stock Exchange corporation. Mr. Leeds spent the greater portion of his working life building that enterprise until he lost his position as a result of a hostile takeover, financed by the then-legendary Michael Milken. During Mr. Leeds’ 14-year tenure as CEO, Manhattan Industries shares appreciated approximately 24 times. Mr. Leeds is a graduate of the Lawrenceville School and received a B.A. from Yale University and a M.B.A. from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He has served on the Development Board of Yale University, the Board of Carnegie Hall and the Board of Phoenix House. He currently serves as a Trustee on the Boards of the Educational Foundation for the Fashion Industries, New York University Hospitals Center, D.A.R.E. NYC, Prep for Prep and the New York Junior Tennis League. Mr. Leeds served on active duty in the United States Naval Reserve from 1952 until 1955. He has two children, six grandchildren and was also the father of Cary Leeds, who passed away in 2003. He lives in New York with his wife Dalia.
