Ryan LaFond

Ryan LaFond, PhD , Managing Director, is the head of research for the Asia Pacific and Emerging Markets Equity group within BlackRock’s Scientific Active Equity team.Dr. LaFond’s service with the firm dates back to 2008, including his tenure with Barclays Global Investors (BGI), which merged with BlackRock in 2009. At BGI, he was head of Research for Asia ex-Japan and Emerging Markets in the Global Active Equity Group. Prior to joining BGI, he was with Algert Coldiron Investors. He started his career as an assistant professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management.Dr. LaFond earned a BBA degree and PhD in accounting, both from the University of Wisconsin, in 2001 and 2005, respectively.
