Daniel Ades

DANIEL ADES is a principal, main shareholder and founder of Kawa Capital Management. Since inception of the firm he has had the primary responsibility for origination, fund raising, and oversight of Kawa’s investment products, currently managing close to $600 million in assets. Mr. Ades is the principal portfolio manager of the Kawa’s flagship vehicle, a Global Macro Hedge Fund with over $350 million in assets with a focus on asset backed securities, esoteric credit in general and turnaround situations in fixed income. In addition to his role with the Kawa Fund, Mr. Ades was also responsible for launching several special purpose vehicles, including a long-biased fixed income fund in 2009, several real estate SPVs and more recently Private Equity investments. Currently, he also serves on the advisory group to the Investment Manager’s joint ventures, including BridgeInvest (commercial mortgages) and Adler Kawa Real Estate Advisors (Private-equity Real Estate). Prior to forming Kawa, from 2003 through 2007, Mr. Ades was a partner at the investment advisory firm Horn Eichenwald Investments, an SEC-registered investment adviser with over $200 million in assets under management. At HEI, he managed investments for the multi-family office, as well as directed research for its Flexor fund of hedge funds. During his tenure at HEI, he was also a director at Bridge Loan Investors, a commercial mortgage lender which controlled over $70 million of properties and mortgages at the time of his departure. Mr. Ades received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and International Relations, cum laude from Tufts University in 2001 and a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy with focus in International Business Relations and Economic Development from The Fletcher School in 2003. He received high honors for his master’s thesis on pricing of emerging market debt, was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and is philanthropically active in several organizations in Miami.
