Alexander Weiss

Alexander Weiss is a Principal Director of ClearSky Security Fund I (“the Fund).  Mr. Weiss is also a co-founder and Managing Director of ClearSky Power and Technology Fund I (“ClearSky Fund I”).  Mr. Weiss also currently serves as Vice President of Technology & Innovation Investments for NextEra Energy (“NextEra”).  In his role as Vice President of Technology & Innovation Investments for NextEra, Mr. Weiss co-heads NextEra’s venture capital investment effort and is involved in the development of NextEra’s business strategies.  He is responsible for investment decisions and fund management for more than $10 billion of invested financial assets of NextEra.  Mr. Weiss was formerly Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of NextEra.  Prior to joining NextEra in 2009, Mr. Weiss was a vice president at Morgan Stanley, and a managing director in the investment banking divisions at Smith Barney and Paine Webber.  In these roles, he has over 20 years of experience working with private equity and venture capital funds.  Mr. Weiss brings deep industry knowledge, having completed transactions across the investment life cycle in a range of industries, including extensive experience in investing, equity raising, high yield, mergers and acquisitions, leveraged recapitalizations and restructurings.  Mr. Weiss holds a B.A. in mathematics and economics from Boston University and an M.B.A. in finance from Columbia University.  Mr. Weiss currently serves as a member of the board of directors of Cylance, Pike Group (parent company of Pike Corp.), and Sentient Energy.  Mr. Weiss was also formerly a member of the board of directors of RedOwl Analytics (sold to ForcePoint), Clean Power Finance and Kilowatt Financial (which companies merged to form Spruce Finance), CyberGRX, iControl Networks (acquired by Alarm.com and Comcast), NEXTracker (which company was acquired by Flextronics), Spruce Finance, and Verengo, in addition to formerly serving as a board observer of Modular Wind Energy and Silver Spring Networks (listed on the NYSE).
