Shuhei Abe

Founder / President, SPARX Asset Management Co., Ltd.

Mr. Abe began his career as an analyst for Nomura Research Institute (Japan).  Mr. Abe transferred to Nomura Securities in 1982, and from 1982 worked in Japanese equity sales at Nomura Securities International (New York).  In 1985, he formed Abe Capital Research, Inc.  Mr. Abe managed Japanese equity investments for George Soros’ Quantum Fund and was an adviser for Credit Suisse Bank’s Far East equity portfolio.  Mr. Abe returned to Japan in 1989 and established SPARX Asset Management Co., Ltd. as an independent research and money management firm.  Since 2001, SPARX shares have traded publicly on the JASDAQ exchange and the firm, with over 100 employees, currently manages approximately $5.0 billion in Japanese equity assets for institutions, pensions and individuals in Asia, Europe, and the United States.  He graduated from Sophia University in Tokyo with a B.A. in Economics and an M.B.A. from Babson College.
