Heather Gelchion

Managing Director, Cambridge Associates, LLC

Heather is a Managing Director and a member of the Private Client Practice at Cambridge Associates. Based out of the Boston office, she advises a number of private clients, endowments, and schools. Heather’s clients range in size from $40 million to more than $1 billion and are located in the US and Europe.The following are highlights from Heather’s recent client work:•Advising on the commingled assets of multi-generational families, including trust structures and assets held in separate family foundations.  As part of this work, Heather has increased exposure to emerging markets through regional satellite managers, completed an in-depth analysis on investing in gold, and reviewed opportunistic credit and distressed investments.  •Creating an implementation plan for a family client to sell a multi-billion dollar single stock holding into a diversified portfolio while considering spending needs in several currencies.•Developing and advising on several hedge fund portfolios for private clients, including strategy allocation and manager selection. •Conducting a detailed attribution analysis for a large US foundation to help quantify the impact of asset allocation and manager selection decisions.  Additional work involved revising guidelines for tactical investments, evaluating the impact of investment decisions on the portfolio’s active risk, and hiring an overlay manager to express tactical views.  •*Conducting a comprehensive portfolio review for a religious institution, which resulted in the implementation of a new long-term investment allocation, reorganization of the manager structure and selection, and implementation of new benchmarking policies.Prior to joining Cambridge Associates in 2005, Heather worked at Standard and Poor’s as an Associate Ratings Analyst in the Structured Finance Group.  In this position, she primarily rated asset-backed securities, including synthetic, mortgage-backed, and auto loan transactions. Previously, Heather worked as an Investment Banker at Adams Harkness, Inc. where she began her career as a Financial Analyst and later served as an Associate.
