Michelle leads Deloitte Canada’s Family Enterprise Consulting practice, advising business families on generational transitions and helping them to build the alignment and resilience needed to flourish across generations.Committed to the whole family as a client, Michelle draws on a structured approach that melds traditional consulting experience with systems thinking and the insights and empathies needed to help families navigate the complexities of wealth and family dynamics.Michelle helps enterprising families to define their goals, build communication, address conflict and establish governance structures and processes as the foundation of lasting success, as both a family and as the enterprise.Michelle’s bent for surfacing the possibilities extends to her role as an advisory board member of THNK School of Creative Leadership in Vancouver, and membership in the Waterloo, Ontario Perimeter Institute of Theoretical Physics’ Emmy Noether Council, which advocates for women in physics and mathematical physics. Michelle is a regular speaker on topics related to family enterprise governance, succession planning, communication in families, as well as diversity and inclusion.Michelle has more than 25 years of business and investment banking experience in North America, Europe and Africa. Her professional career began with Deloitte in South Africa, where she also lectured in Taxation at the University of Cape Town.Michelle holds a BCom Accounting from the University of Natal, and a BCom Hons. in Financial Management and a Post-graduate Diploma in Accounting from the University of Cape Town. She is a C.A. in South Africa, a UK Certified Securities Dealer, and a designated Family Enterprise Advisor in Canada.
