Washington, DC (October 21, 2013) -TIGER 21, North America’s leading peer learning network for high-net-worth investors, has formed a second group in the Washington, DC Metro area with the group meeting in Tysons Corner, Virginia.

TIGER 21 also recently announced the formation of a second Miami group, with yet another in Florida planned for Palm Beach by the end of 2013.
The Washington, DC groups follow TIGER 21’s successful model of pooling collective intelligence for ultra-high-net-worth investors, who meet monthly to exchange investment ideas and share personal experiences on a broad range of wealth-related issues. In addition to serving as a professional networking and educational platform, TIGER 21 offers Members access to investment opportunities, including private equity, real estate and hedge funds, as well as participation in a host of other alternative investments.
Cal Simmons, a successful business executive, venture capitalist and angel investor, who is currently the chairman of the Virginia Tourism Corporation leads TIGER 21’s Washington, DC-area groups. Simmons has co-founded and managed three early-stage venture funds, including The E-Media Club, The Dinner Club, and The Washington Dinner Club, with more than $40 million in investments spread across a portfolio of 28 primarily high-tech companies. He was also the founding investor in three companies that have gone public, returning significant multiples to early investors. He is a former chair for The DC chapter of Young Presidents Organization (YPO). In 2001, Simmons co-authored the highly acclaimed investment guide Every Business Needs an Angel, published by Random House/Crown Business.
“Our first group has been filled out with entrepreneurs from a variety of industries including manufacturing, telecom, Internet and real estate, and from investment professionals as well as a scientist,” said Simmons. “Our second group is similarly diverse, which brings a healthy mix of world perspectives and knowledge to the table.”
TIGER 21 creates a safe environment for Members to explore critical issues affecting their lives. Through the regular monthly meetings and an annual Members-only conference, as well as through exchanges on a private Members-only website, TIGER 21 Members share their knowledge and experiences, and help each other wrestle with issues relating to finance, investments, managers and advisors. Another important part of the curriculum focuses on estate planning, family, health, philanthropy, and issues of communal involvement.
TIGER 21’s Presenter Program complements each meeting by providing access to top finance experts from around the globe that often introduce Members to a variety of investment opportunities, as well as experts that focus on other issues.
“There is no shortage of affluent investors in the Washington DC/ Northern Virginia Metropolitan area who can benefit from the type of collaborative learning environment created at TIGER 21. This group is ideal for those individuals who want the high-caliber experience that TIGER 21 provides its Members,” said Simmons.
