    Klaas P. Baks PhD is Chair of Atlanta 01, 02, and 03. He is a finance professor at Emory University where is an award-winning professor with deep expertise in alternative investments, private equity, and entrepreneurship. Klaas has extensive experience working with entrepreneurs providing capital structuring and M&A advice. He serves as chairman or director for eight companies, including Anghami (NASDAQ: ANGH) and International Media Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ: IMAQ). Klaas is a graduate of the Wharton School (PhD in Finance) and Brown University (Master’s in Economics). He spent two years at Harvard University as part of his doctoral research at Wharton on the performance of actively managed mutual funds. Klaas grew up in the Netherlands and prior to settling in the United States spent time in Japan and Hong Kong as an investment banker. Klaas is passionate about Formula 1 and is an active chess player. He lives with his wife and son in Atlanta, Georgia.

    Aaron deSouza is the Chair of Atlanta 04 and founder of Controlowner, Inc., an accounting technology company, focused on making it easy to design and seamlessly record internal controls. Previously, Aaron served in various audit, M&A, and senior leadership roles with three global accounting firms: Price-Waterhouse 1991-1992, Deloitte 1994-2005, and Grant Thornton 2005-2021. Over his accounting career, Aaron has had increasing P&L and revenue responsibilities, including leading Grant Thornton’s U.S. Private Equity Audit business, while also continuing to serve as the audit signing partner on public and private enterprises, where he helps his clients with mergers, spinoffs, IPOs, and other complex transactions. deSouza also serves on several boards including The Free Agent, LLC and The United Way of Greater Atlanta. He is also the audit committee chair at Xenex Disinfection Services Inc., the maker of UV germ-zapping robots.
