Press Release

New York (January 27, 2015) ‚Äì TIGER 21, North America’s leading peer-to-peer learning group for high-net-worth investors, has announced that Melissa Shilliday has joined the organization as West Coast Director of Membership. She will be responsible for member recruitment in the Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego areas, as well as in Orange County, where TIGER 21 is looking to establish groups.

Shilliday has more than 30 years of experience in sales and operational management. Most recently, she was Vice President at Alliance Bernstein where she advised high-net-worth individuals, families and foundations on their wealth strategy. Prior to Bernstein, Shilliday was CEO of several Bay Area start-ups, where she built executive teams and operational systems across a broad spectrum of industries including healthcare, luxury travel and apparel.

TIGER 21 first established a California presence in the fall of 2006, with groups formed in Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco. The professionally facilitated groups meet monthly, allowing Members to exchange investment ideas and share personal experiences on a broad range of wealth-related issues.

“TIGER 21 has experienced tremendous growth over the past year and we now have more than 300 Members, who combined control more than $30 billion in personal assets. We’ve had a presence in California for nearly a decade and feel the time is right to increase our efforts to connect with the ultra-high-net-worth residents of the Golden State,” said Jonathan Kempner. “Melissa Shilliday is a perfect complement to the talented team of chairs that we already have in place on the West Coast. I am confident that she’ll help us connect with many new Members who will strengthen our already robust collective intelligence network.”

TIGER 21 creates a highly confidential and safe environment for Members to explore critical issues affecting their lives. Through regular monthly meetings as well as through exchanges on a private Members-only website, TIGER 21 Members share their knowledge and experiences, and help each other wrestle with issues relating to finance, investments, managers and advisors. An important part of the curriculum focuses on estate planning, family (particularly issues of wealth and children), health and issues of communal involvement. TIGER 21’s Presenter Program complements each meeting by providing access to top finance experts that often introduce Members to a variety of investment opportunities, as well as experts that focus on other issues.

“I am excited to be taking on the role of West Coast Director of Membership for TIGER 21. Having worked with many high-net-worth families and individuals, including entrepreneurs and senior executives, I know that there are many in California that can benefit from an organization like TIGER 21,” said Shilliday.

Shilliday currently sits on the Fund Development Board of the Alzheimer’s Association of Northern California and was the 2014 Chair of the San Francisco Walk to End Alzheimer’s. She is an active member of both Astia and Watermark, where she mentors young women entrepreneurs in the high tech and life science industries. In addition, she is an active member of National Charity League and was on the Advisory Board for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts for 8 years.

The TIGER 21 Annual Members’ Conference will be held in Beverly Hills in February 2016.
